The default budget answer. Ventana keeps Sauvage’s recognisable fresh citrus opening and spicy, masculine feel, but comes across slightly smoother and less sharp than the original. From the same affordable Middle Eastern world as Lattafa Asad, Najdia offers a bright citrus opening over a strong, musky, ambroxan-driven dry-down. Wearers report eight to ten hours of longevity with powerful projection, which is impressive at the price. A good alternative if you want something in Sauvage territory with its own character. 3. Prada Luna Rossa Carbon (around £55 to £70)
Not a clone, but arguably the closest designer fragrance in DNA. It shares the bergamot, ambroxan, lavender and pepper profile, but comes across smoother, less aggressively spicy and more lavender-driven. Which should you buy first?
Start with Armaf Ventana Pour Homme. It is the closest budget clone, the cheapest, and the easiest to find, and it will tell you quickly whether the Sauvage profile is for you. If you want something smoother and more refined, Prada Luna Rossa Carbon is the designer step up. Either way you are getting most of a £90 experience for a fraction of the cost.
